Common Questions About Applying for PACE

How do I know if PACE financing is available in my area?

Simply visit the Check Availability section of our website. You can also see if your home is eligible by entering your address on our Home Page in the “Check Address” field. You’ll have the option to apply on the spot.

What if I have a question while I’m applying online?

Our Customer Care Center is happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Call 1-844-736-3934.

What happens after I’ve submitted my application?

Once a Customer Care Representative receives and reviews the information on your application, you will be notified with a decision. If additional information is required, a representative will give you a call back. This typically happens within 30 minutes if you apply during business hours.

Is there an application fee?

There is NO application fee, and submitting an application does not commit you to go through with the financing.

Why do you need my social security number if you’re not using my FICO score?

We do request a credit bureau report as part of the application process. However your FICO score is NOT a factor in determining eligibility. We look at other information contained in the credit report.

What might stop me from qualifying for PACE financing?

PACE financing may be more difficult to obtain if:
Mortgage payments are not up-to-date
Recent history of bankruptcy
Property taxes aren’t current, or a history of late payments (last 3 years) are indicated
There are involuntary liens or judgments on the property
A default or foreclosure was filed against the property in the past 3 years

Why do I have to verify my income?

PACE regulations in California (signed into law in October 2017) require Renew Financial and all PACE providers to verify that customers have sufficient income to be able to repay their PACE assessment.

Can I choose my own contractor?

Yes. However, the contractor you choose must be registered with Renew Financial for you to use PACE financing. If you have not yet selected a contractor, you can choose one from our list of registered contractors on the Find a Contractor web page.

How do I know if my contractor is registered with Renew Financial?

Your contractor should be able to tell you if they are registered with Renew Financial. You can also check by searching for your contractor on the Find a Contractor web page.

How do contractors get paid?

Renew Financial will pay your contractor directly, but not until you provide final approval for the work completed.
