With drought on our minds, the cost of electricity rising as the summer heat looms and an additional $350 million in lawn-replacement rebates just approved by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, there’s no better time to welcome the communities of Los Angeles County as the newest members of CaliforniaFIRST.

At CaliforniaFIRST, we provide PACE financing to families and businesses who want to make home upgrades but need financial support to invest in the water saving, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects that will save them money in the long term.

The financing is then paid back as a line item on the property owner’s annual property tax bill. PACE financing is unique in that it is based on a homeowner’s home equity, not FICO score or income. If you have at least 10 percent equity in your property, you can simply apply online at californiafirst.org or by phone at 844-589-7953. You’ll find out within minutes how much you could qualify for and even get approved that same day.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas sponsored the legislation to bring PACE to Los Angeles County. “Los Angeles County is poised to help residents take part in the green economy,” Ridley-Thomas said. “The PACE program will provide homeowners with an efficient, cost-effective and practical approach to financing renewable energy, water efficiency and energy efficiency improvements. This program is a win-win-win. It will create jobs, lower utility bills and help reduce our carbon footprint.”

CaliforniaFIRST financing can cover solar panels, lawn replacement and other drought-tolerant landscaping, low-flow toilets and showerheads, energy-efficient windows and many other water and energy upgrades.
